As part of my fall wardrobe re-evaluation, several skirts were up for elimination.
First, this orange-y wool number that was actually half of the first suit I ever bought. I wore it to a job interview at a newspaper in middle-of-nowhere Pennsylvania. Did not get hired, thank goodness.
Considered for the give-away bag because: It's a little too long, and anyway, I got rid of the matching jacket a while ago.
Ultimate verdict: Buh-bye! Just-below-the-knee styles don't do anything for my legs.
Probably purchased around the same time, I thought this little black sailor skirt (from Ann Taylor, I believe) was perfect for "going to work" clothes.
Considered for give-away bag because: I hardly ever wear it. For some reason, I always get it in my head that it's a little too short.
Ultimate verdict: It's not too short. It's pretty cute, actually. Keeping.
Bought this at a Goodwill in Delaware when I was around 22 or 23. I think it's handmade, because there are no labels, and perhaps vintage because of how it sits up high on my natural waist.
Considered for give-away bag because: Skirts that sit on the natural waist are kind of constricting! I can't wear this on hot days because it gets too sweaty.
Ultimate verdict: Another keeper. Cause, yeah, I still think it's cool to have a maybe-vintage skirt.
A hand-me-down from a neighbor that I wore in a Rachel Berry-inspired outfit here.
Considered for give-away bag because: The lining is being held in with a safety pin.
Ultimate verdict: Give it away. It wasn't mine to begin with, anyway.
Asymmetrical blue-and-brown striped skirt that I've had at least since 2004.
Considered for give-away bag because: I've never had quite the right shirt to wear with it, the material is kind of worn out, and I'm not sure but I think it's kind of 90s?
Ultimate verdict: Kind of sad to see it go, but it's time. Goodbye, old friend.
My mom bought this for me a couple of years ago. It has great colors and looks very "rich."
Considered for give-away bag because: Sometimes it just feels too swishy for me—a little too fancy for most regular work days.
Ultimate verdict: Holding on to it. Mom would be so sad if I didn't :)

My dad took me out for a nice birthday / Father's Day lunch. I had the ALT (avocado, lettuce, and tomato), and he had the grilled chicken sandwich. Good times.

This is me doing Rachel Berry. Although she'd probably never pick those shoes. Worn for Sunday brunch with friends and then filing my taxes.

Tank - Kate Hill
Cardigan - American Eagle Outfitters
Skirt - Context
Tights - HUE
I built this outfit around the tights, so it's kind of a shame you can't see their great colors better. The skirt is a high-waister, as you can tell from the second photo, but I wore the tank top un-tucked at work. I'm with older kids now, so I'm trying to make an effort to "step it up" some days—while still keeping in mind that I'm constantly touching dusty library books and other general school grime.
